Sneak Peek at the shoot I shot this week. This is the first of 4 looks we did. Such a fun day and some great looks. I’ll be blogging more peeks as I get them done!

Captures from my recent morning excursion. Love that this is only adequate minutes from my house. Ideal for a future fashion editorial!
New sets in Auxiliary magazine!!! I got to work with Douglas McCarthy and Jimmy Urine for these two sets. Both ware such great guys and I had a blast working with them. Check out Auxiliary for more of the images and great interviews with each.

I’ll be shooting similar styles in April for students to submit for contests. Looking forward to it! ;)
I have a number of inquiries about my portrait shoots. I’m currently booking for April and May, so contact me if YOU are interested! :)
So, recently it’s been confirmed that I’ll be heading to Japan in August for a working tour. I’ll be shooting hair shows and doing workshops with various hair academies while I’m there. I’m so excited!!! I’ve actually never traveled over seas, so it’s an amazing opportunity for me. I’m all ears if you have advice!! :) I’ll be there for 2 weeks. Above is the bio I’m sending ahead… whatcha think?

So… Lost drive remains lost permanently. Drive savers could not rescue the information. Luckily, I had a lot of the images elsewhere, so it isn’t as painful as it could have been.
In better news, I submitted images for a web editorial on Auxiliary Magazines blog, and am in the process of retouching the finals from my recent shoot.
And while the time change turns my inner clock on its ear, I have started riding my motorcycle again! I am not comfy riding my new bike after dark, so that extra hour makes it easier to be on two wheels! ;)
Shooting a wedding in 2 weeks, super excited for that one!
We had so much fun on this shoot. It may look familiar in that it is very similar to the portrait shoot I did recently for my friends birthday. I really wanted to do an editorial for this and enlisted the lovely Erika to bring it to life. This time she did both hair & Make Up. www.glamourlush.com
The two girls next to me are Shelby Jones and Olivia Bellafontaine. Erika took the photo. ;) (thanks girl! )
I’m hoping to get the set published…. So you only get a behind the scenes for now.
Days like that remind me why I love my life! Creativity + friends + memories … Life is good!!

This week has been a bit stressful. I’m ready to get things going, but kind of at a loss as to where to start!
I lost an external hard drive, due to carelessness on my part, and, lost quite a few shoots with it, as I hadn’t gotten around to backing them up…. Lesson learned! It’s an expensive mistake to make. One I don’t have the money to have made. But… I need the images, so I shall have to bite the bullet and send it out to get the data retrieved.
But I have a few shoots coming up that I’m excited about, I’m donating a photoshoot to Scissordays @ The Other Door this Saturday, put on by my friends at Lesbian Happy Hour.
Lots of things to think about and put into motion! ;)

So recently I’ve been fighting to stay positive. I had to take a full time job to cover bills and re-evaluate my photography business. Unfortunately, fashion and beauty are a very hard field to break into, especially when you live in California - New York would be a much better place to launch that particular career. Unfortunately, I have no desire to live in NY, and… well, at the moment, not enough work to fund me flying to and fro.
I’m still working in fashion and photography - I am a digital editor for an online fashion e-commerce site. I currently have a great position there, it allows me to be able to continue taking online courses through sites like CreativeLive.com and other webinars.
I just find it difficult being back in an office environment after 6 years as a freelancer. I’m going to be a bit more talkative on here, expressing how things are going and bringing out the challenges I’m facing. I am hoping that writing stuff out will help me to bring my dreams to reality. I truly think that a huge part of success is being positive and surrounding yourself with that energy.
I currently have a 2 year goal - at the end of 2 years, I want to be shooting enough on the side to be able to cover all my expenses, including health insurance, and have saved enough money that I can feel secure for the months when things are a bit slower.
My plans are to launch a full time business as a portrait photographer, aimed at women of all ages. With that, comes family and wedding photography. I will never stop shooting fashion and beauty photography, as that is part of my creative outlet.
I’m excited for the future! I just need to keep that in my head and keep the positive going.

Recently did a portrait shoot for my best friends Birthday. This is a photo of her daughter, Anisa, who recently left for college.
We did a whole series of photos, this is one of my favorites.
This is the type of photography I want to do! I love doing stylized fashion influenced portraits. The entire shoot was so much fun! I came up with the concept and location, told her what kind of clothing to bring and brought my team in. Erika Diehl of Glamour Lush did her Make up, Jeanna Kier did her Hair.
There was lots of laughter and giggling. This is one of the few moments I actually caught Anisa without a huge grin on her face.
:) My friend loves the photos, and I’m so happy to have such a fantastic team to bring my visions together.
I’ll be updating my website, www.SarynChristina.com with more images from this set soon.
In the meantime, if you are on Facebook, you can Like my page www.facebook.com/sarynchristina to see more of my photography and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. I love hearing from you!

Lots going on this week! Working on booking a wedding for March… Yes, I shoot weddings too! ;)

It’s been a crazy time these last few months! Just finished a shoot for NAHA Monday, very excited about it! Working on editing the images from that shoot and prepping them for submission.
Shooting at ISSE Long Beach at the end of this month. Not to mention a few personal shoots - I’m looking for a fashion stylist for an editorial shoot this weekend, Saturday. Anyone out there have a recommendation? Or interested? I’d love to hear from you!!!
