Photo from a shoot I did Halloween weekend.  :)  Alexandra was a trouper, that water was cold!  :)  Hair, makeup and styling by students of J’s Hair Studio and Academy.

Image from a shoot I did a few years ago with Lacy Soto.  I love the styling - she did it her self.  This was a shot from the second shoot we did together. We shot at her apartment.  I still love the maniquinesque look she has. This was very early on in my switch to alternative fashion photography.
Enjoy!

Yesterday was such a blast!  I got to work with 4 beautiful ladies, AND they were all redheads.  I have a thing for beautiful gingers, being a ginger myself.  ;)
The team was:
Jeanna Kier and Genevieve Garner on hair. (BOTH these ladies rock!!!!)
Maria Barrios and Stephanie Lawrence on Make up - Do I need to repeat myself?  I had never worked with Maria before, but she was an uber pro, fast and very talented!  And Of course, The rest of the girls on the team were there because I’ve worked with them a number of times before and KNEW they would rock.
The models were (pictured above with Hair by Genevieve and MU by Maria) Ninja
Aryiel Harman, Rochelle Red - All first timers in front of my lens.  And Sarah Hilker, another of my favorite ladies to work with.
All in all, the shoot was a blast.  Everyone was timely, worked hard and we blew through 8 looks in 6 hours.  Can I tell you what a shock THAT was? Everyone was speedy and amazing.
The purpose of this shoot was basically that I wanted to update some of my beauty work and focus on both fun and clean makeup. I contacted a bunch of models, and as it turns out, it was all gingers who jumped at the chance to do this shoot. So - I’m going to do this a few more times each time will focus on the color of hair.  Next time I’ll choose all blonds, or maybe brunettes… we’ll see what catches my eye!  I plan to do a few more of these over the next few months.
I also have recently learned some new retouching techniques and figured that it would be the PERFECT reason to do a beauty shoot. I’m quite pleased with how these images tuned out.   Although, I do have to say that after posting them on ModelMayhem.com, the jpgs desaturated horribly.  NOT pleased with that. I’ve read about others encountering this problem before, so I’ll have to do some research and figure out how to correct it.
In the meantime, click the image to see the rest of the set on my flickr account.
(btw - not happy with the placement of my watermark… but it looked worse in other areas of the photo.  grr!!)

What do you think? Am I being overly sensitive about this?  I saw the image that is not mine and immediately thought that it was a tad too similar.  (unfortunately, I don’t have any info on the shot, found it on another site without any kind of credit info)

I’m posting this because I’m interested in other peoples opinions.  Especially with the LaChapelle suit against Rihanna right now.

Is this possibly someone who was inspired by my shot (taken 3+ years ago)  or do you think they copied my shot, OR do you think it’s just similar and a different shot all together?

Just posted a bunch of images to my flickr account from my last shoot.  Lots to look at, as I’m terrible at editing down from too many images.  At least when I have to post a group of the shots.. the two I’ve posted here are definitely in my top favorites.

….She loves me not.
Photo from 2007 era… Wow… old.  But I wanted to continue revisiting images from my past and this one seemed like a good choice. Considering that today IS Valentines day.
This image is from a set that I did based off the Nick Cave Song “Where the Wild Roses Grow” One of my all time favorite songs and artists.  I don’t feel that I did the song justice with this series.  I feel like it could have been more creative and grand.  Ah, with the experience I have now, it’s easy to say that!
Overall, I’m actually pretty happy with this image. (Considering where I was experiencewise when I shot it and not thinking about how I would shoot it now)  It was shot with my 20D, in JPG format, as I couldn’t get RAW images to upload to my computer at that point.
I actually did a bit more post on this image, the original had too many stray hairs that were distracting and the color was way over saturated. Plus, I shot this in the wrong color balance, and the image was very yellow, warm toned.  It really needed to be brought down.  If you know the song it’s about a woman who follows a man to the riverside where the wild roses grow, gives him her virginity and he kills her so she will always retain her youthful beauty…. Ah, love.  Hence, the image needed to be a little less warm!
Happy Valentines Day!!!
